If you are near the ocean or in a coastal area, you will want stainless steel hardware. This product is manufactured from type 304 stainless steel. All the flat metal or the leaf portion on the hardware is manufactured from the type 304 stainless steel. All the pins on the pintels, lag bolts and screws or fasteners will be type 202 stainless steel. The hardware also features a high grade of durable black powder coat paint that will weather for years.

If you are miles inland, a more economical choice would be carbon steel hardware. Carbon steel will eventually rust, but not as quickly if you are not in a very salty air climate.

Aluminum hardware is also available; however, Home Products 'N' More does not carry it because it's not a good solution when hurricane protection is a consideration. Aluminum may not be a good coastal choice either. Though no red rust will appear, aluminum does white rust and the metal will deteriorate rapidly unlike Home Products 'N' More's stainless steel lines.
